"Own the Room"

Hey Sis,
Let's talk about something real—showing up confidently to networking events. I know, the word “networking” can make you cringe, but it doesn’t have to be awkward or intimidating. It’s time we start thinking about it as an opportunity to connect with other women who are going through similar journeys. Whether you’re a business owner, climbing the corporate ladder, or pivoting into something new, showing up to these events can be a game-changer.
The key? Confidence.
Now, I get it. You might feel a bit unsure at times, especially when you’re walking into a room full of people you don’t know. But here’s the truth: half the battle is just showing up. When you walk into that space with your head held high, shoulders back, and a smile, you’re already making an impact. Confidence isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about being open, ready to learn, and willing to connect.
Why is this so important? Because networking is where relationships are built, and relationships lead to opportunities. You never know who you might meet—someone who could mentor you, collaborate with you, or even become a client. But none of that happens if you don’t show up.
I want to encourage you to start viewing these events as places of possibility, not just obligation. Go in with the mindset that you belong in the room (because you do!). Remember, everyone there is looking to grow too. You’re not just showing up for yourself—you’re showing up for the women who need to meet you. Your experiences, insights, and personality are what make you valuable.
Before you head out, take a few moments to center yourself. Do a quick power pose, remind yourself of your goals, and trust that you’re exactly where you need to be. Don’t focus on trying to “impress” anyone. Instead, aim to connect. Ask questions, listen, and be your authentic self.
So the next time you get invited to a networking event, don’t hesitate. Show up, shine, and make those connections. The opportunities are waiting for you—you just have to be there to grab them!
You’ve got this!
Your networking coach,
Dannielle
